Childbirth Education Goals
My goal as a
childbirth educator is to guide expectant parents toward gaining the
information they need to improve their confidence in the birth
process and in the woman’s body who will be giving birth. As a
guide, not an expert, I offer non-biased information about
pregnancy, labor and delivery and the postpartum period that can be
applied to each individual’s circumstances, regardless of what path
their birth experience takes them down. I teach through the
introduction of techniques, and philosophies, and by the use of
individual and group dynamics. I offer my classes in a neutral
environment where clients may receive and digest the information
offered without perceiving the message of ‘this is how we do
childbirth here on our turf’. My purpose as a childbirth educator
is not to convince you of “the one right way” to give birth, for
there is no such thing. I aim to offer the gift of knowledge and
awareness, and to open each class participant’s eyes to the wide
range of possibilities that encompass the process of childbirth.
I strongly invite you to consider the class size, environment and
dynamics in choosing your childbirth preparation class. How, and in
what setting do you learn best? What characteristics in a
childbirth preparation class will best help you to prepare, and
increase your confidence level for your up-coming childbirth
experience? |
